ClassicalPeer-review
X.509 (web certs)
PGP (email)

The Classical certification program is based on commonly respected databases and lists, and so on. The peer-reviewed program is based on voting communities that may jointly cause the revocation or denial of a certificate.

The X.509 technology is mainly used in TLS/SSL protocols such as secure web sites. For handling of signed email, encrypted files and so on, PGP is a more logical choice.
